¡La rutina de mi pequeño se desordenó en vacaciones!

My little one's routine was thrown into disarray during the holidays!

5 tips to get back into the routine after vacation

Going on family vacations is wonderful, and we often take the liberty of being more flexible with our little ones' sleep routines. This means we let them stay up later and sleep later. This can work well while we're on vacation. However, when we get back home, these disruptions can create resistance to getting back into routines, especially when it's time for bed.

So what can you do to make coming home easier?

To get back into the routine after the holidays and avoid tantrums when putting your children to bed, waking up at night or very early in the morning , we bring you five tips that could help you :

1. Be clear with the rules

Once you get home, tell your kids that vacation is a special time and that now that they're back, they'll need to go back to the normal rules they had before they left.

2. Focus on your bedtime routine

While you were on vacation, your child's bedtime routine may have been different than usual. When you get home, go back to the routine you had before you left. Expect some resistance the first few days , but stay consistent.

3. Set a bedtime

If your child went to bed later than usual during the holidays, try moving their bedtime forward by 15 minutes each day . This way, their biological clock will adapt again without such sudden changes.

4. Stay alert

During the holidays, it is very likely that your little ones have received more attention than usual. Then, when they return from vacation, this changes as they return to work and their daily routine. For children, it means a big change and they may need additional attention during the first few days after vacation . Try to be attentive to them in order to support them when they need it.

5. Don't push yourself too hard

Be patient with yourself and with them . We all love holidays, and there are plenty of reasons for that. But the little ones do too, and often find it difficult to return. Continue with your daily routine and let their biological clocks adjust again. Within a few weeks, things will be back to normal.
