The Tomás Building reflects another important reality that our society must review: awareness of what is different, collaboration and affection.
Tomás, Olivia's brother (the protagonist of “El Barrio de Olivia”), begins to question why all the doors in his building are the same, when he understands that behind each door live families that are different.
He begins to visit them and, upon entering each apartment, he is happy to meet each family. He does not pay attention to how each home is made up. He enjoys the interaction that each family unit has with him and everything he can learn from each reality.
We must be able to teach our children the meaning of difference, the value of diversity. Tomás could be any child, and his building could be any building, town, or neighborhood in our country. The only thing that is truly certain is that behind every door, we will always have a story to know and learn.
