Nine months ago, designer Lupe Gajardo welcomed her most perfect creation: Bruno. Here she tells us a little about motherhood, how the arrival of her son has shaped her life and career, and how it opened up a world of opportunities she was previously unaware of.

Motherhood made me happier: existentially happy.
As a mom, I'm a stickler for: getting out of the house quickly.

Do you like routine or do you go with the flow in your day-to-day life? An extremely flexible routine.
What characteristics of being a mother have helped you in your career as a designer? I feel much more creative in practical and functional ways.
How does being a mother influence your creative processes? Now I see opportunities in things and situations that I previously ignored, it opens up an incredible world of observation.
Best motherhood advice I've ever been given: Chat with other moms and ask questions.
My favorite motherhood cliché is: “it’s the best thing that can happen to you in life.”
My most unpopular opinion on motherhood: If you're dying for a beer or glass of wine during "periods of restriction," have it, it's okay.
