Matea Mom of the Month: Constanza Mackenna

Mom of Rebeca (4) and Teo (17 months), when actress Constanza Mackenna became a mother, she also became a new person. Here she tells us part of this rebirth, which, as she describes, has given her more security, patience and empathy.

Motherhood made me more generous , self-confident and patient, but what it did most was develop an acute selective deafness.

As a mom, I'm great at: optimizing time, packing bags, and kissing.

As a mom, I'm terrible at: following routines, letting them cry.

Something I wish someone had told me before becoming a mother: that I was going to become a new person, that I wouldn't be able to escape guilt, that it's normal to feel alone, and that I would be more selective with my friends.
The phrase (or gesture) from your children that melts you: their smiles, when they ask to be held, listening to them develop their ideas.

I can never say no to my children when… they insist many times.

Since we became moms/dads, the relationship with my partner has changed.

What I said I would never be like as a mom, and now I do: lend them my cell phone.

My favorite maternity accessory is the pacifier, but I don't get the hang of it until I'm 2 years old.

Do you like routine or do you go with the flow on a day-to-day basis? With Rebeca it was 100% flow, but when Teo joined, a spontaneous routine appeared.

What characteristics of being a mother have helped you in your acting career ? Empathy, fragility, learning to use your time well.

How does being a mother influence the construction of your characters ? It has helped me not to judge my characters and the characters around me as good or bad.

Best parenting advice I've ever been given: Follow your instincts, let them fall and learn on their own.

My favorite motherhood cliché is: if you're okay, your kids are going to be okay.

My most unpopular opinion on motherhood: I'd rather put him in my bed than stay up late, I love breastfeeding until it makes sense to you, I'm uncomfortable with big kids with pacifiers.
