Mamá Matea del mes: Alexandra Platt de @bebeacomer

Matea Mom of the Month: Alexandra Platt from @bebeacomer

Mother of Isabella (5) and Alonso (1), during her first pregnancy Alexandra decided to quit her job as a restaurant manager to raise her daughter at home. It was there that she discovered the world of Complementary Feeding (CF) and the lack of information and myths that existed about it. She decided to get certified in CF and BLW, created the Instagram account @bebeacomer where she shares delicious and easy recipes for babies and children, launched a recipe book and began doing personal and group counseling.

True to her philosophy of “everything can be cleaned, everything can be washed” , Ale is a mother who inspires us to feed our little ones with patience, love, and above all, more awareness. Here she tells us a little more about her way of living motherhood.

Motherhood made me more sensitive and patient.

As a mom, I'm great at: cooking, containing, and inventing games out of nothing.

As a mom, I'm terrible at: scolding them and putting things in order when they misbehave.

Something I wish someone had told me before becoming a mother: not to feel guilty for wanting to do something for myself or for myself.

I can never say “no” to my children when… they do something and they look at me with cat-in-boots eyes.

Since we became moms/dads, with my partner: we became a new couple, understanding and supporting when we needed it.

What I said I would never be like as a mom, and now I do: giving sugar to my children before they are two years old.

My favorite maternity gadget (or accessory) is: my water tumbler, my maxicolet and my mini diaper bag.

Do you like routine or do you like to go with the flow in your day-to-day life? I try to create a routine but my distraction never allows me to finish it.

Best motherhood advice I've ever been given: You need your own time and space without guilt, too.

My most unpopular opinion on motherhood: I would co-sleep with my children until they were 10.

For me, BLW is: a method that, if you understand it, makes the food-baby relationship much more bearable on a day-to-day basis and less frustrating when not knowing what to offer.

For me, porridge is the best option to offer when eating out or on vacation where there is no kitchen.

Best advice for moms and dads starting complementary feeding: feeding your baby is not a race against time, just think about when “you” left your parents’ house and you will understand me. Feeding should be respectful and with a lot of patience.

Best advice for moms and dads starting BLW: trust the process and above all, let them get dirty! “Everything gets cleaned, everything gets washed, the experience lasts over time.”
